The 6-day Training of Trainers on the Life Skills Sub-Component commenced in Omu-Aran with a hands-on session on environmental education and climate change, equipping trainers to inspire adolescent girls to protect their environment.

The 6-day Training of Trainers on the Life Skills Sub-component officially began on May 4, 2025, at Mucenty Hall, Omu-Aran. The opening day featured an engaging session on Environmental Education and Climate Change, facilitated by environmental expert Dr. Hauwa Aliyu. The session introduced participants to the fundamentals of climate change, waste management practices, pollution and environmental protection, as well as the importance of deforestation and afforestation. These topics were designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of environmental sustainability and their role in climate action. To reinforce learning, participants engaged in outdoor observations to identify real-life examples of pollution and environmental degradation within the community. Interactive role plays and group presentations further deepened understanding and encouraged practical application of the concepts discussed. A key message from the session emphasized responsibility and sustainability: “If you cut a tree, plant seven more.” Through this training, trainers are being equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to empower adolescent girls across Kwara State to become advocates for environmental protection and climate resilience.
