On June 7, 2018, Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI), with funding support from the Global Fund through Health Alive Foundation, implemented a community-based TB project aimed at promoting behavioral change, improving early detection, and reducing TB incidence among vulnerable populations.

Community Tuberculosis (TB) Control Project
The Community Tuberculosis (TB) Project was funded by the Global Fund through the Health Alive Foundation and implemented by Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI). The initiative was designed to address the persistent challenge of tuberculosis within local communities through targeted advocacy and awareness strategies. Project Objectives • Promote positive behavioral change within communities regarding TB prevention and treatment. • Improve timely detection and ensure access to quality treatment for TB cases. • Reduce the incidence of TB among People Living with HIV (PLHIV) by at least 25%. Key Activities • Community sensitization campaigns • Advocacy visits to key stakeholders • Commemoration of World TB Day • Quarterly review meetings with community volunteers Impact Through sustained community engagement and awareness efforts, residents gained a clearer understanding of the causes, symptoms, prevention methods, and available treatment options for tuberculosis. As a result, early reporting and detection improved, stigma was reduced, and communities became more proactive in seeking appropriate care. This project reinforced OCDI’s commitment to strengthening community health systems and promoting informed, life-saving health practices at the grassroots level.
